Usernames in PeopleTray are email addresses that uniquely identify each user. They are used for signing in to both the PeopleTray Web and Mobile App. For consistency and ease, we recommend using company email addresses rather than personal email addresses whenever possible.
Steps to Update a User’s Username
Note: Only usernames of Active people can be updated. If you need to update an Inactive person you must reactivate their profile first.
- Log in as a System Administrator.
- Navigate to Settings > Manage Users > Usernames.
- Under User to rename, select the person whose username you want to update.
- In the New name field, enter the correct username (email address).
- Click the Update Username button.
Important Notes:

Note 1: You should inform the user about the username change, as they will need the updated username to sign in to the PeopleTray website and Mobile App.

Note 2: Changing the username does not update the email address PeopleTray uses to send notifications. If you need to update the user’s email address for notifications, navigate to the Person's Profile > Contacts tab and update the email address as needed.
