A Competency is the ability to apply a set of related knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform critical work functions or tasks in a specific work environment. A Verification of Competency (VOC) is an assessment to confirm a person's knowledge and skills.
Competency Fields:
- Name: The name of the competency (e.g., RIIMPO206A: Conduct bulk water truck operations).
- Description: A description of the competency.
- Proposed Hours: The proposed hours it will take to complete the unit of competency.
- Does it expire?: Indicates if the competency has an expiration date (e.g., a certification or qualification that is only valid for a certain period).
- Expiry period: The duration for which the competency is valid (e.g., a driver's license may expire after 5 years).
- Expiry reminder days: Number of days prior to expiry when a notification will be sent out (e.g., a reminder 60 days before a driver's license expires).
- Notify person?: If checked, a notification will be sent to the person when the competency is about to expire or has expired.
- Notify supervisor?: If checked, a notification will be sent to the person’s supervisor when the competency is about to expire or has expired.
Steps to Add a New Competency
- Log in as an Administrator or System Administrator.
- Navigate to Settings > Trainings > Units of Competency.
- Click the New button to create a new competency.
- Complete the mandatory fields (Name, Description, Expiry, etc.).
- Click Create to save the new competency.
